What is respiratory physiotherapy?

Respiratory physiotherapy consists of treating, educating and advising patients who have problems with their lungs and their breathing. This can be the case with patients that have symptoms of long-COVID, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases (COPD) or following lung surgery (e.g. lung lobectomy in case of tumour tissue). Treatment consists of techniques to help eliminate secretions in the lungs, help promote the lungs to expand and prevent alveolar collapse. In addition, tailor-made cardiovascular and strength training are essential elements.
